You can now travel in time through the Time-Lapse mode of Google Earth / World of digital information
Now this is very exciting news for all time travel enthusiasts, if you want to go back in time to ancient times and see where and how your ancestors lived. Just open the Google Earth app on your Android smartphone, as Google is conducting experiments for a time-lapse mode for time travel which will show you the historical data through which you can see into the past.
But the feature is hidden for now and a developer named Kyler discovered it through a few experimental parameters.
So far, the feature can show the past in aerial view up to 1984 in some areas and up to the 1930s or 1940s in some countries, but the Google team is trying to take you back further, maybe over a period of 80 years, along with the 3D view, the street view and much more. Phew, that is surely a lot of time.
Also, if you want to try out the feature, you need to have a deeply rooted phone and make manual changes and change app preferences or other terminal controls. Nonetheless, it can be a risky thing. So if you’re not a code geek, it’s best to wait until Google officially announces something about this feature.
Do you know that even now the desktop version of Google Earth which is called Google Earth Pro has so many more features than smartphone, Android / iOS or others don’t.
It is also said that satellite images outside of the United States may not be clear due to a lack of detailed satellite images.
Google Earth was launched in 2001, so back then the satellite image of your own home on your computer was nothing short of a miracle for people 20 years ago. The time travel feature is currently in testing or you can say “experimental mode” at the moment.
It is not yet known whether the official version of the feature will become a permanent feature in the app, but it won’t be rolling out anytime soon given the polish the feature needs.
Stay tuned for more!
