Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services (DARS) dry house

The Care Agency Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Service has announced the opening of its Dry Home on Monday, October 31, 2022.

The Dry House is part of the Care Agency initiative that supports post-rehabilitation sobriety. Our mission is to provide the highest quality drug and alcohol addiction treatment services and to deliver them with commitment, integrity and purpose. Our goal is to continue to promote the health and emotional well-being of our clients as they transition into the community from Bruce’s Farm Rehabilitation Center, also operated by DARS.

The Care Agency’s Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Service said they understand that when a person makes the decision to enter their rehab service, they are taking their first steps towards starting a new life without addiction. “Many of our clients experience high levels of anxiety and apprehension, as well as relief and hope. They are focuseded walking through the front door of Bruce’s Farm and beginning their program. The residential treatment center provides a space to feel safe from the outside world for those struggling with the immediate crisis of substance abuse, and for many of them, planning for life after treatment is not something they consider upon admission. However, the reality is that the real work of recovery begins when residential treatment ends. Medical detox followed by therapeutic counseling are only the first steps to living a substance use disorder free life, and it is essential that clients are fully prepared and supported to the point off and when they return home.

Through the Care Agency Dry House, the drug and alcohol counseling team seeks to provide ongoing support and assistance to clients deemed eligible. Working with the housing department, the care agency identified a two-bedroom apartment in the community to provide this service. The apartment can accommodate up to four guests and offers all the necessary amenities to encourage independence in guests, whilst continuing to provide a level of support and security for those anxious and worried about returning home directly. after rehabilitation. Clients will benefit from established holistic care plans, tailored to their specific needs, which will set out key goals consistent with their rehabilitation goals and agreed upon by their professional therapy team. By providing clients with a gradual transition to community and giving them the opportunity to settle safely and strengthen their support systems before returning home, we believe they are more likely to achieve and maintain their rehabilitation goals.

“Addiction doesn’t stop once people get out of rehab; recovery is a lifelong battle, and DARS aims to provide individuals with a solid foundation for lifelong recovery.

Ms. Giselle Carreras, head of the department of psychology, therapy and rehabilitation services in drug and alcoholism, expressed her satisfaction to see this new project launched. Ms. Carreras would like to commend the professional and dedicated team within the DARS service without her commitment to the organization this would not have been possible. Mrs. Carreras determines the new Dry House project “will undoubtedly offer our customers extensive professional service for support and enhance a more successful prognosis in sobriety.

The Minister of Health and Care, the Honorable Albert Isola, said: “It is essential that the Care Agency continues to invest in a professional manner to provide clients and families with the most competent and specialized services. The implementation of The Dry House project will improve and encourage individuals in their ongoing recovery.
