UCF will sell alcohol in a football stadium for the first time

ORANGE COUNTY, Florida. – FBC Mortgage Stadium, home of the University of Central Florida Knights football team and formerly known as “The Bounce House,” will now serve alcohol throughout the stadium.

UCF has published its new policy on alcohol in football online Tuesday, followed Wednesday with a list of “What’s new in ’22″ for the stadium. Now, in addition to expanded access to alcoholic beverages, each person entering the stadium will encounter a handheld or portable metal detector, “Cold Zones” will be set up on the east and west sides of the concourse, Gold Zone parking permits have gone virtual and more outlets have been added, to name a few changes.

The stadium’s new alcohol policy still has its restrictions, however.

According to UCF, alcoholic beverages are limited to two per person per purchase, with student concessions limited to one drink per person. The sale of such beverages at portable and permanent kiosks shall terminate at the start of the fourth quarter of a football game (or the equivalent for other events), but the 3MG Club section will serve alcohol until the end of an event.

Drinks from outside are not allowed under penalty of expulsion, arrest or ticket withdrawal, and alcohol cannot leave the stadium either.

Additionally, stadium staff can refuse to serve anyone at any time if patrons are deemed too intoxicated. Guests giving alcohol to people under the age of 21 – or those who possess alcohol without proof that they are 21 – will be subject to expulsion and/or arrest, and all policies may vary by event without notice.

The university said there are now 25% more outlets throughout the stadium to also reduce queues.
