Tottenham and West Ham want En-Nesyri, Kanoute is a big fan
Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are said to have fought in the race to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri. Both need an attacker who can be a substitute, but who is more than capable of defying the start. In 2020, Freddy Kanoute is full of praise for the target of Tottenham and West Ham En-Nesyri in an interview with Goal.
En-Nesyri scored 24 impressive goals last season as Julen Lopetegui – one of the many managers linked to Spurs – guided Sevilla to fourth place. Qualification for the Champions League comes after Lopetegui won the Europa League title last season. En-Nesyri has been crucial for both seasons.
Coming from Leganes in January 2020, En-Nesyri struggled early on – scoring just six goals in 26. But in his first full season with Sevilla he scored 24 – including six in eight Champions League appearances . Now, Mundo Deportivo claim Spurs and West Ham want him. Kanouté is a fan.
“I would say [Youssef] En-Nesyri of Seville ”, Kanoute said last summer, when asked which African player turns him on. “I think he’s an exciting player. He is tall, fast and agile, despite his size. Hopefully he will score plenty of goals for Sevilla.
Which club needs En-Nesyri most in the midst of Kanoute’s praise – Tottenham or West Ham?
En-Nesyri is a high level player. Goals, fast, agile and incredibly strong, he has a bit of everything. So which club is it suitable for? Well, Tottenham need one striker and potentially two – if Harry Kane leaves. He’s easily good enough to try to fill the void left by Kane, rather than just being a replacement.
But Kane seems to want to stay with Spurs. While Kane is on the books at Tottenham, West Ham is the better choice. He is similar to Michail Antonio, around whom David Moyes built the identity of the West Ham team. The Europa League also makes West Ham the best option.
