Preliminary investigation cites alcohol and speed as knockdown factors

MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) — Investigators say alcohol and speeding were factors in a rollover accident that injured two men in Mishicot Township.

At approximately 4:47 p.m. Wednesday, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office was called to a single vehicle rollover on State Highway 147 and Strum Road. Two men got stuck in the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says preliminary investigation shows a 53-year-old man from Two Rivers was driving north on Route 147 and missed a turn in the road. His SUV rolled over and came to rest in an agricultural field.

The driver and his passenger, a 20-year-old man from Two Rivers, were extracted from the vehicle. The driver was airlifted to a hospital. The passenger was transported by ambulance.

“Preliminary information indicates that alcohol and speeding were factors in this accident,” said Sheriff Dan Hartwig. “As this accident is still under investigation, no further information is released at this time.”

No name has been released.
