Expert claims West Ham is laughing if he can land ‘best player’ for £ 10million
Paul Robinson believes West Ham would get a fantastic deal if he could sign striker Odsonne Edouard from Celtic this summer.
The Hammers have been looking for a new sniper since Sebastian Haller’s departure in January. David Moyes’ side accepted a big loss when signing their club record, which left for Ajax. In response, West Ham sought a replacement, exploring several avenues without success.
Indeed, they made a strong offer for Youssef En-Nesyri from Seville, which the La Liga club quickly refused.
Since then, hitman Hoops Edouard has established himself as a candidate on their radar.
The Frenchman will enter the final year of his contract this summer, leaving him exposed to an exit. In fact, Football insider claim there is a ‘fear’ within Celtic that he could leave for between £ 8 million and £ 10million.
Edward is also a firm target for Leicester, who are looking for Jamie Vardy’s long-term successor. Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has a history with Edward, signing him to Parkhead.
Borussia Dortmund have also reportedly expressed interest, but Robinson said Football insider that he can see the attacker integrate into West Ham.
“It would be a great signing for any club, especially if you can get him for £ 10million,” the former goalkeeper said.
“You would bite their hand at that price.
“Edouard is a high level player, who has a lot of strings to his bow. He can drift far, go deep and score goals. The Premier League would suit him as a player.
“I could see him settle down if he moved Western ham. I think he will have a big impact if he comes.
Edouard has scored 81 goals in 165 games for Celtic, including 20 goals in 37 appearances this season.
Other options available for West Ham
Aside from Edward and En-Nesyri, other players have been asked to resolve the West Ham striker issue.
Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham is apparently in a rut and TEAMtalk understands that he faces being stuck at Stamford Bridge unless he lowers his wage demands.
Also, Brentford’s Ivan Toney might be an option; Aston Villa has enjoyed great success after attacking the Championship club for Ollie Watkins last summer.
