Cleveland bars and restaurants may request to serve alcohol until 4 a.m. during NBA All-Star Weekend

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Places in Cleveland interested in serving alcohol and staying open until 4 a.m. for NBA All-Star Weekend must submit nominations to do so by January 20.

The 75th anniversary season of NBA All-Star Weekend will take place February 18-21.

The NBA All-Star Game takes place on Sunday, February 20 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will also host Clorox Rising Stars on Friday February 18 and State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on Saturday February 19.

Under state law passed prior to Cleveland’s organization of the 2016 Republican National Convention, venues in the city can apply for a waiver from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control to serve alcohol until 4 a.m. when major events are hosted by Cleveland.

Several establishments took advantage of the extension during the Cleveland RNC.

“As the deadlines initially stated on the application passed, the local organizing committee worked with the City of Cleveland and the State of Ohio to expand the process in light of the continuing challenges facing hotel businesses. as well as the change of administration in the city of Cleveland, ”said David Gilbert, co-chair of the local organizing committee and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Destination Cleveland.

All completed entries should be submitted to the local organizing committee by email at [email protected]

The local organizing committee will submit all completed applications to the City of Cleveland for review. Next, the city will provide a list of recommended waiver recipients to the Ohio State Liquor Control Division.

Companies will be notified by the State if an exemption is granted to them.
