Ann Summers rep ‘disgusted’ after biting KFC to find it was ‘absolutely raw’
A representative for Ann Summers shouted after eating her KFC meal only to find it was ‘absolutely raw’ – sharing images of pink, rubbery chicken that she called a ‘health hazard’.
Sophia Soriyah was about to step into her £ 14 Trilogy Box meal as she watched a movie in the dark on Friday April 30, but biting into her chicken thigh she immediately felt ‘the texture didn’t seem not good ”.
The 27-year-old screamed and spat it out immediately after discovering that the food ordered via UberEats at the Hatters Way Retail Park branch in Luton, Bedfordshire, was like ‘biting into raw flesh’.
The ‘disgusted’ Sophia, who also works as a chef herself, became terrified of suffering from food poisoning, but credit only took a bite as her saving grace as she is luckily not got sick.
However, she vowed never to return to the branch and said she wouldn’t be doing another KFC for “ a very, very long time ” – also blaming UberEats for only refunding part of her order.
KFC apologized that Sophia ‘postponed’ her meal and said they appreciated the food ‘didn’t look great’ but explained that they have extensive cooking procedures in all their restaurants.
Sophia, from Luton, said: “The texture was like biting into raw flesh.
“I started digging deeper into the chicken and the deeper I got the rawer it looked and I was absolutely disgusted.
Sophia needed a late night dinner after a long day at work and pampered KFC as it was one of the few restaurants open after midnight.
Initially excited to have KFC, that excitement quickly turned into panic as Sophia worried about food poisoning.
Sophia said, “I thought if I’m sick I don’t want to have food poisoning, I have a job and things like that.
“That was all I could think of, what if I had food poisoning, and if I did, because it was so raw.
“Fortunately, I didn’t think maybe because I had only had one bite.
“I don’t think I’ll be going back to KFC for a very, very long time anyway, and I certainly wouldn’t be going back to KFC in Luton.”
Sophia shared photos on Facebook and Twitter appearing to show pink chicken as part of her order, with some of the meat shiny with a chewy texture, which she said shows she was ‘completely raw’ .
However, a spokesperson for KFC said sometimes their chicken could just look undercooked, but they claimed it was the “ result of using fresh, natural products. ”
Sophia claims UberEats did not offer her a full refund, returning her only £ 9.98 on her £ 14.33 order.
She claims to have repeatedly sent UberEats her ID and other details, but they did not respond further than giving her the partial refund.
Sophia said: “I then contacted UberEats, they only gave me a partial refund.
“I was really shocked, as you can see it’s not even a little undercooked, it’s absolutely raw. How do they not give me a full refund?
“I understand they weren’t the ones who cooked the food, but they only gave me a partial refund and I don’t understand why.
“I kind of gave up but I don’t think I should because it’s something really bad.
A KFC spokesperson said, “We’re sorry to hear that our guest has postponed their meal, it’s the last thing we want.
“Safety is always our number one priority and we follow rigorous cooking procedures in all of our restaurants, but sometimes our chicken can appear undercooked which is the result of using fresh, natural products.
“We haven’t had any similar complaints, but we appreciate that it wasn’t great, so we would like the customer to get in touch with us so we can get it right and offer a full refund.”
UberEats has been contacted for comment.
