Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing alcohol from a 77-year-old pensioner at a farm in the Free State.
Free State Police spokesman Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the pair allegedly stole alcohol from the Christina Farm retiree on Tuesday, but did not injure her.
Mophiring said the woman heard water running outside the house and when she went to inspect she discovered it was the geyser. She then returned to the bedroom.
She came out of the bedroom and was surprised by a suspect who was in possession of a knife, demanded firearms and money. The suspect allegedly stole his liquor bottles and fled the scene without harm.
Mophiring said the suspected thief entered the house through a window. He said two 22-year-old suspects were found in possession of alcohol, a bag and a wallet that had belonged to the woman.
A knife that was allegedly used in the robbery was also found.
Both men have been charged with house robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon and are due to appear in Harrismith Magistrates Court on Friday.
